Where did the summer go?

August 24th, 2007

Ahh!! Where did the summer go? I only have about a week and a half until I have to start school again T_T I’m no where near finishing my English homework, I’ve got things I still have to buy, and I pretty much got nothing done that I had planned to get done at the beginning of the summer. *sigh* That’s what always seems to happen…

Well, okay, I did get one thing done that I wanted to get done over the summer. I got my drivers license! Fwee!! I thought for sure I would go throughout my life, always too nervous to get it. I went down to take the drive test yesterday, and I was ridiculously nervous. I couldn’t sleep the night before, and I couldn’t eat anything before hand :-P But I passed ^_^ I completely failed parallel parking and backing around a corner, but I still managed to pass the test. Of course it would have been a whole lot easier to pass both if there hadn’t been this group of two adults and waaaaay too many kids walking around behind me while backing around a corner, and if there hadn’t been this guy walking around weed whacking near the spot I was trying to get into for parallel parking *grumbles*

I haven’t done a whole lot besides that since I blogged, well, I did VBS (Vacation Bible School, basically a sort of day camp with bible stuffs :-P) at my church. Which was fun, even if I had the most INSANE group of kids who all seemed to have tendencies to bounce of the walls…

Not much more to say besides that, I haven’t been posting here as much as I used to, probably because I’ve been on livejournal a bit more than I used to. If you have an account there my username is Padfoot_Freak. Go ahead and leave a comment, friend me, whatever :-P Yeah, I really need to go and do my English homework now.. (all though all I want to do is watch Babylon 5….

Reading: Almost done with the Scarlet Letter!
Listening: Babylon 5 (yes I’m watching it)
Last Movie Watched: The Count of Monte Cristo (all though I saw Becoming Jane in theaters yesterday)
Eating: A few milkyways
Drinking: Milk! (fwee! I love milk ^_^)
Feeling: Excited! (I can drive by myself!)

I rode a rollercoaster!!

August 5th, 2007

I’m back!! Fweee, it’s amazing. I’m finally blogging. I got home from Florida Wednesday night, very very late Wednesday night. Our flight was delayed an hour because there was this monstrous thunder/lightening storm. Wasn’t too bad. All in all the trip was very cool.

The first day (Which was Friday) we were at DisneyWorld!! Now I can no longer said I’ve never been to a Disney theme park. That was pretty fun. I went on Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean twice (we were at Magic Kingdom). Space Mountain was probably my favorite ride. So much fun ^_^ I finally started one of those Disney pin collections, which I was very excited about :-P Then on Saturday was our lazy day. We (as youth, the adults did have to get up and register us) didn’t actually have any gathering activities until 8PM. So, we hung out at the hotel, grabbed some lunch, and then headed over to the convention center for the first mass event. Which was crazy because there were 25,000 people there! Crazy. The sight of us all leaving the convention center afterward was an interesting one. The sidewalks were lined with people trying to get back to their hotels :-P The next day we had to actually get up to go to bible study (we’re on Sunday now). The guy was kind of boring so it was hard to stay awake :-P Then we roamed around the convention center checking out the various activities. We grabbed a meal somewhere in there, then we had a mass event at 8PM (we had one of those every night). Then we headed back to the hotel, grabbed a small bite to eat, then had LNPP (late night prayer and praise). Then at about midnight we had family time, which normally lasted a few hours :-P That’s basically what each day looked like. I went to a few concerts (Fusebox, Lost and Found, and Stellar Kart) and did some other, stuff :-P As for the bible part of the gathering (since you know, that was kind of the whole point of the week :-P) we talked about being Chosen by God. It was an interesting topic, and one I kind of had a hard time understanding. The theme verse (1 Peter 2:9) was “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” Pretty crazy stuff. Actually, the biggest thing for me that happened during the week is that I’m much more excited about just reading the bible now. Like I read 1 Peter, Esther, and Job on the flight home from Florida. Before now I’ve never actually read an entire book of the bible.

Now, besides Gathering I haven’t done much since I last blogged. Rissy came home from San Francisco today, so I went over to her house for a few hours. I’ve also made a few updates to the site. There are 14 new Harry Potter avatars, and three new Doctor Who avatars. I’ve also got a new blend up HERE.

Harry Potter and the Perfect Procrastinator

July 25th, 2007

So, it’s obviously been a few days since I’ve gotten the book, and while I did post a password protected review post, I didn’t post anything about the night! My, my, bad me :-P Anyway, I’m doing it now. So, we arrived at Barns and Noble at about 2:45 to be greeted by about 20 people who had been in line for about an hour. Nathan (my brother) was complaining a lot because he didn’t understand why we had to be there so early and we we couldn’t have gotten there at 4:30 because there wasn’t going to be that many people, blah blah blah. I however stayed firm in my opinion that getting there at 2:45 was for the best because he hadn’t seen the line there was for the last book. So we waited for a while, and we talked a lot with the person waiting in line behind us. She was really nice, college age I think, and we both had cameras out video-ing everything. Then about 5:00 they started letting people in, and Nathan decided he wanted to check to see how far back the line was to further underline his position that we didn’t have to be there at 2:45. However, he was greeted by a line that I swear, stretched out for ages going around the corner of the store and down the street a long ways. He came back and apologized like crazy, saying he was glad we’d gotten there as early as we did ^_^ (to which I rubbed it in all night because we ended up getting number 22). Then we went across the street to grab some fast food dinner. I was in my costume, and I was really excited I got to walk around on the sidewalks in it, sporting my Wicked umbrella because it was pouring.

When we came back the actual party activities hadn’t started yet, so we just hung out looking at books in the nearly empty store for a while. By the end of the night I ended up getting this really awesome looking Hogwarts journal, Rebel Angels by Libba Bray, an uber spiffy Harry Potter bookmark (the only one left that had all three of the trio, all of the other ones were just Harry and just Dumbledore) and this baby name book with over 100,000 names for character names. Then we all got sorted (Nathan and I both got Gryffindor) and they had these packets and activities we could do for house points. There was this potions assignment activity that looked like it could have been really cool, but someone messed up so it was really lame :-P So, after about an hour or two I ended up texting and calling my friend who was at Borders and was really bored because they had to stand in line all night. Where as at Barns and Noble we got numbers at the beginning and didn’t have to line up until the end. Then at about 11:30 we lined up, which was a ridiculous affair, then I did some video recording of what was going on, the countdown, and getting the book ^_^ Then at 12:06 I started reading on the way home. Whoot! If you want to read my thoughts that I posted in my last entry, the password is horcrux. However, Rissy said it didn’t work for her. If it doesn’t work for you I’m planning on un-protecting it after a while.

Since then I haven’t really done much. I’ve had to get ready for National Youth Gathering (which I’m leaving for Thursday night and I’ll be in Florida for about a week) but I haven’t really done much for that yet :-P I really should. But, there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to go. Which is stupid because I’ve been looking forward to this since my Dad came home from the one he chaperoned years and years ago. Whatever. I’m going to go, and it will probably be awesome, so yeah ^_^

As for sitely news, I don’t really have any :-P I’ve got HUGE amounts of avatars that I haven’t posted yet, but it will probably have to wait until I get back.

The Spoiler Crusader!!

July 19th, 2007

There’s only about a day and a few hours left until the release of the END OF THE WOLRD (as we know it). Or maybe just as I know it. I have no idea. What have I been doing besides going absolutely insane waiting for this book? Well, I’ll tell you ^_^

Well, I turned 17 first of all! Thanks to Rissy for the lovely wallpaper she left in my comments ^_^ I apologize for those who decide to take a look and become absolutely confused, maybe in the future someday you’ll get it :-P I was on the second day of my church camp thing (Kaleidescope) and I was really feeling out of it. I mean, I’d only just met all of these people and I was away from home and really missing my little brother especially. He is always really nice to me on my birthday, and really sweet, so I missed that. I’d pretty much only told a few people there that I’d already gotten to know a little better than everyone else. However, Suzy (my youth leader who often comments) told people :-P Haha. So my bible study leader made me Harry Potter glasses and a wand out of pipe cleaners. I guess Suzy had also told them that my decision to come to Kscope had cost me greatly in the form of missing the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix :-P Then that night as the midnight snack after worship was three birthday cakes ^_^ It took me three tries to blow out all of those darn candles :-P

But what about the trip itself Heather? Well, uhm, well, half of it is a “I’d tell you but then I’d have to kill you” thing, and a fourth of it is something I can’t put into words. Sure, we had stuff that most other bible camps have really. We had bible study, did the worship thing (which lasted until 2AM on a few of the nights, seriously) but there was something else to this camp. There was this intense closeness with everyone there, and this HUGE sense of community and a sort of safe haven you ended up getting in this group of people. I’m sure some of you are thinking “Hey, that sounds like my camp/church/class/group/thing”, and I’d thought that too when I’d heard about Kscope before. So now I’m going to say from experience that it’s nothing like I’ve ever experienced, and I don’t think I’ll ever experience it again (unless due to some odd reason I end up going again).

Then there was this week where I really haven’t had any clue what to do with myself. I came home last Friday (the 13th) and I came home to find my new piano keyboard I’d picked out in my room, along with the fact my room had been completely rearranged. My mom had spent the entire week going through my room, taking out old toys, and rearranging my room. Seriously, I love her, I really do. My room looks awesome, and I have more wall space for posters :-P Haha, I’ll have to take some pictures to show the ridiculous amount of pictures and posters I have on my wall right now. About a fourth of it is Harry Potter, another fourth is Switchfoot, and the rest is just random stuff.

Okay, this is getting long, but I’m posting this now to say I probably will not be reading blogs, checking comments, ect until Saturday night. If that. My computer has to be taken in to get cleaned or whatever, and I don’t mind. SPOILERS ARE ABOUND PEOPLE!! *breathes* Seriously. I’m afraid to sign on and read people’s blogs for the thought of accidentally reading a spoiler is enough to give me a heart attack. My brother was already spoiled with why the book is called Deathly Hallows. And don’t ask me what it is, because he hasn’t told me :-P He knows he would meet an untimely death if he spoiled a thing for me. Also, for those who are worried about being spoiled about the book, do not worry. After I read the book I’m going to post a review post, but I’ll password protect it. For those who want to know the password I’m going to post another entry later telling everyone the password so if you want to read it you can do so.
